Bon Cop/ Bad Cop (2006)

As the wedding plans are moving on and many obstacles and complications rising up, I needed a nice distraction. What better way to get my mind off urgent issues than re-viewing an action filled comedy made in Canada/Quebec?
'Bon Cop/Bad Cop' is an action-comedy about two cops who, despite of their vast differences, are forced to work together on a murder case. A body of a hockey player is found on the border sign of Quebec and Ontario. The jurisdiction of the crime is shared between two provinces because the body just happens to be on both sides of the border, here's a clip:

Martin Ward (detective from Toronto): His heart is in Québec.
David Bouchard (detective from Montreal): But his ass belongs to you.

With totally different styles, attitudes and languages, the reckless David and the ethical Martin join force to disclose the identity of the Tattoo Killer. And of course the two cops become friends by the end and so on, nothing new in the story itself. But the characters are wonderful, funny, charismatic and make the whole movie extremely entertaining to watch. You can definitely tell they have gone tastefully overboard with the cop stereotypes and violence, but it works perfectly in this particular film.
'Bon Cop/Bad Cop' made me understand Quebec mentality and frictions between Francophone and English speaking Canadia much better and of course, laugh my ass off. This movie has everything one could wish from an action-comedy: there is sex, violence, chasing, explosions, drugs, shitloads of shooting, swearing and of course a nice load of sarcasm. If you don't really like action movies, watch it purely for the jokes, it's a 'laugh-till-beverage-snorts-out-of-your-nose' type of a comedy movie. Damn tré bon humour, esti!
Just take a look at this clip where David is giving a language lesson to Martin on Quebec swearwords while conducting a 'Montreal-style' arrest.
