I was just sighing few posts back about hoping to see The National and guess what tickets my boy got me? Yes, yes. I'm being spoiled rotten. And that's not all, warm up band is Twilight Sad, two amazing bands together, yet again! Montreal is like magic kingdom where everything you wish can come true and here all my dreams will come true, I don't dream for much, just music and love ... feed me, feed me . In 11 days I will be living my dream with my honey, in our small but cute nest, going to see bands I love on pretty much regular basis, going wild, going to live days full of glory, morning coffee in bed, evenings out with friends in the famous city. We can build weird memories and giggle ourselves senseless. I have butterflies in my tummy, this is fantastic.
Now on The National: This fantastic indie rock band knows how to make albums and albums full of amazing songs that grow on you one by one at their own pace, with their hidden charm. When I first put "Boxer" on, only one song caught my ear "Mistaken For Strangers" because of it's Interpol'ish appeal and smart lyrics, but after a while their songs seemed getting better by each listen till suddenly I found myself getting lost in their music, loving all songs on the album feeling it with all my senses. I thought it was just the uniqueness of the "Boxer", rest of their albums left little impression on me, yet again at first listen. After a few I knew, I knew The National are geniuses, they make grow-oners, they do not make music that is mainstream, music you like at first or second listen, they make intelligent indie rock that eats it's way into your soul, to the core of you, they live and breathe in you, it's beyond everything. And I love the fact that most people give up after few listens never reaching the superiority that is understanding it's beauty. They sing about the basements of their brains and their medium sized American hearts, they sing about throwing money at each other and crying in the guest room, they sing about Karen and Abel and standing inside an empty tuxedo with grapes in their mouth and waiting for Ada and being half awake in fake empires. I can't think of anything more perfect, can you?
