We arrived just in time when Editors came on stage. We ended up at the left side of the stage at a pretty good distance to see the band, any closer and I would have only seen butts. I should note here that during the weekend I have grown hatred towards tall people, I really think they should charge people, who are near 2 meter tall, more for the ticket, they get to see bands while I, who paid the same amount, get to see their butt. Anyways Editors, they played pretty much all of their more known songs, the singer had a huge stage presence that sometimes even turned into too much, so it seemed a little ridiculous when he was doing all those "Coldplay moves" reaching for invisible whatever things over the piano, or holding his hands in front of his face as if covering it from the sun. The sun was in OUR face, it was so warm I was cooking in my own sweat, thankfully we had bought the ridiculous leopard print cowboy hat that gave me a shade enough to see the stage, others had to hide their faces under Osheaga guides or squint till their eyes watered up. There weren't that many people watching the Editors gig, I think people just weren't familiar with them and their music, but those of us who were we enjoyed it, I did. At the end of it I got to go much closer to the stage, made my way trough the crowd and got really close and I still managed to see the stage and it was great.
There were two major stages right next to each other, so when Editors ended straight after the last song on the next stage Xavier Caféine came on, it was constant running between two stages, the crowd ans moving to the left, to the right, to the left, it was pretty amusing, since they never gave us time to move it was band after a band, not even a minute apart, brutal I say, brutal. See?
We were so suffering from the blazing sun and the heat and the dust that we just had to move away and seek for the shade of trees so we didn't see Xavier Caféine but just heard some. We had just 30 minutes to rest till we had to rush back to the left stage to see one of my favorite bands Blonde Redhead. And oh boy was it amazing, they came on stage and I just gasped, Kazu was looking so beautiful and kind of humble, she has a very humble and shy stage presence, it's like she is very into her own personality. And when she said 'Thank you' to the crowd it was a silent, high pitched voice, almost like one of 5 year old girls, and it was so adorable, all you could do is smile back at her. They pulled of an amazing show, definitely the highlight of that day, I'm sad my cellphone camera isn't good enough to shoot videos that have a little bit of quality even but I found this on youtube of the show, Blonde Redhead performing '23', I nearly cried, it was so beautiful.
I also remember them playing 'Equus' that is one of my favorite songs of theirs, I can't recall more songs, I was in a starstruck trance of being near Kazu and the band and they were live in front of me, oh my. And they ended their gig with Kazu screaming in high pitch without taking a brath for the longest time that my ears were about to explode and I was sure it could have broken some glasses if there were any on the set, it was amazing, fantastic, once in a lifetime experience. And she had a black horse chair on the stage, wow, love her.
My boyfriend claims he saw Kazu's panties when she got up from the horse chair, I believe him, her dress was almost just a t-shirt, the undies accordingly matched her dress color hehe. Talking about t-shirts, I'm now a proud owner of a official Blonde Redhead t-shirt, that is yellow and really long and tight, it cover my butt completely, very Kazu-style, yay. When the gig was over, on the next stage Patrick Watson came on and we didn't care about that so we set of to the shade of trees to eat something. We ended up eating a 5 buck sandwich, holy shit, food was expensive there but we were starving, starving!
And then it was the time for Stars to come on stage, this time there were a lot more people so we couldn't get the best view and the fucking tall guys always, always stood in front of me even tho there was room, next to me, tabarnak. Stars looked happy to be at their home stage or something, kinda very family atmosphere, interacting with the crowd, did all their known songs. Here is my little cellphone video attempt, my honey lifted me up and put me down before I got it all taped so he lifted me back up, you can hear me screaming hehe.
And here's picture of when we got much closer to the stage after realizing people were ganging up in the center and the left side was totally open. So we watched rest of the gig right there, rather close to the stage, we were closer tho, my cellphone camera sort of makes things look far for god knows what weird technical reason.
Also at some point during Stars gig I look to my left and, holy fuck, there stands the singer of Editors like less than a meter away from me, with his girlfriend/wife watching the Stars as well. So I stare and stare till a little light goes off above my head and I realize I should take a picture or ask for signature or something and as I get my phone out of my bag and lift it up, the guy turns his back and walks away, walks AWAY! Fuck, fuck, fuck. But I have my boy to back me up on this story even tho I have no pictures to prove it.
After Stars we ran to the next stage to see Feist, who was on right after, she is not really a festival performer, meaning it just want really impressing me, maybe at a small club gig it will, but at a huge festival it disappeared for me.After that we went to seek for coffee and we found some, yay and fudge as well, so we sat down around the pond and had our little coffee time when at the back of us music started playing in a box, and after investigation we found out there was a band in a box, playing live, in a box haha.
After we couldnt stand freezing anymore and we rushed to one of the big stages to get a glimpse of Smashing Pumpkins before leaving, we had arranged a lift home, so we were tight in time. I got to hear just 3 songs of SP, one new song, 'Stand inside your Love' and 'Tonight, Tonight', it was pretty good and enjoyable, but hte freaking stage lights were just overboard, you couldn't take a picture properly as the lights just were straight in your face, it was so annoying. This is the best picture, argh.
But I leave you with someone else's video of the gig, person was much closer to the stage and had a better camera, lucky fuck.
Stay tuned for the day 2 entry, I'm tired of typing for today!

Then we headed to one of the smaller forest stages to see Explosions in the Sky, the whole path to the site was absolutely buried under the smell of weed, everyone was smoking, everywhere we looked, it was a stone zone, hehe. I have never seen such a big group of people getting publicly stoned, it was amusing and teasing, sine we felt like out casts as we didn't have weed.
Explosions in the Sky was a big trance of stoned youth closing their yes and drifting away in their music. It had gotten extremely cold by that time in the night, I was freezing my butt off. But Explosions in the Sky kept on playing and playing, my small short, bad quality video:
