We went to see Queens Of The Stone Age at Metropolis, we almost didn't go as we forgot they were playing but eventually thanks to our friend we were reminded of it, so we did get to go, tickets were pretty cheap and all.
When we arrived Biffy Clyro had already finished and due to a parking space issue (10 times worser than in Estonia) we missed half of The Black Angels as well. The place was packed with people but the music god loves me so by chance my honey found us seats on the balcony, second row, 3 seats (just how many we were) together, it was a lucky chance, otherwise I wouldn't have seen a thing.
The Black Angels were quite good, didn't understand a word the guy was singing tho and they went completely overboard with a sitar player but generally they were interesting enough, maybe I should try them out.
Then the Queens came on stage, now these guys are sexy, dunno why, but the whole music and stage decoration and them live, it's all so sexy. Their stage was bizarre, weird light effects, weird stage setup and props, sort of worked though as you can see. These lamp-like things were shooting out different colors, all shiny , shiny metal weird artwork. I mean it was kinda weird but cool at the same time.
Now as it comes to the band and their performance, then, damn, you can tell they are a high class band, I mean professionals, I mean, well, I hope you know what I mean. Even though I am not impressed by Era Vulgaris, they delivered well and also played songs from Lullabies To Paralyze, now that's my favorite album of theirs, maybe because I really started listening to them at that period of their career, maybe it really is their best album, so far I'm loving it. And they started the gig with "No one Knows" that according to our friend, who we were with at the gig, they had earlier told in an interview that they won't play that song anymore, teasers! One of the guitarist had very slippery pointy white shoes, he just kept skating the stage in these, looking quite funny, maybe that is what he wanted to do, but it looked kinda like it always was accidental. The Bassist just had one move, that was shaking his head, with his shoulder length curly hair hitting whack, whack against his face, from left to right, hehe, he didn't get tired of this particular move throughout the gig it was impressive, I'd be passing out after half an hour of that. Now as it comes to Josh Homme, this guy is pure sex on legs, even with his signature "puusa nõks" movement that he does over and over and over, it's somewhat gay, but then again hot as hell. He must e the sexiest red head singer out there, he just has sex pouring out of his pores and his howling, oh god, his howling is just perfect. The perfect live howler on earth hehe. I was mesmerized, I couldn't stop focusing on him and him only, so I had to put some work in me to e ale to also grab the looks of rest of the band and the crowd. Now as it comes to the crowd, oh my, crowd surfers, loads and loads of them. One guy was circulating the crowd for a couple of songs in row before he got tossed on a security guard, that ended his fun/misery. Moshing, a lot of it, the packed crowd was moving in weird rounds, being pushed left and right and in circle, our friend who went in to the mosh pit for a few times during the show, came back with scratches and bruises and happy hehe. I wish I was a young guy, I'd like to go trashing as well without being scared of coming back with broken bones. Queens got the crowd going, singing alone, putting hands in the air, it was spectacular. Then the Queens came on stage, now these guys are sexy, dunno why, but the whole music and stage decoration and them live, it's all so sexy. After the show we went downstairs to see the merchandise, I had set my mind on QOTSA panties, that our friend had told me about when we arrived to the venue. But once we managed to get to the merchandise stand, they only had XL size left, I mean I would love panties but not ones I can drown in and the wife beater, that was my second choice, got sold out just few persons before us, so I came back empty handed and quite sad I didn't get the panties I had set my mind on :( Well this is what the place looked like on the first floor after the show, oh my.
I'm looking forward seeing more gigs here, since I won't be returning to Estonia now anytime soon, I have music to explore, we have few shows on our minds, that we'd like to maybe see. Trough music I define this life in Montreal and my verdict is fabulous, the dream come true, life with no boundaries.
